The Fixx opens for The J. Geils Band, 7 p.m. Aug. 28, Fairgrounds Grandstand, at the Allentown Fair. The British rock band formed in 1979 in London. The group's hits include "Red Skies" and "Stand or Fall," from "Shuttered Room" (1982); "One Thing Leads to Another," charting at No. 4 in the United States, and "Saved by Zero," from "Reach the Beach" (1983). The group's song, "Deeper and Deeper" was on the soundtrack of the movie, "Streets of Fire." "A Letter to Both Sides" was on the soundtrack of the film, "Fletch." "Secret Separation," from the album, "Walkabout" (1986), went to No. 1 on Billboard's album rock chart. "Driven Out," from "Calm Animals" (1988), also reached No.1 on the album rock chart. The group celebrated its 25th anniversary with a two-CD set, "Twentyfifth Anniversary Anthology." The group released its 10th studio album, "Beautiful Friction," last month. The group includes Cy Curnin, vocals; Jamie West-Oram, guitar; Rupert Greenall, keyboards; Dan K. Brown, bass; and Adam Woods, drums.
