Personnel changes approved; use of facilities granted

At the Oct. 10 school board meeting, the following personnel changes were announced and approved.

Shawn Borger has resigned as part-time nurse assistant at Harry S Truman Elementary School and Western Salisbury Elementary School effective Sept. 26.

Michael Dorward has resigned as the freshman class co-advisor and the high school student council co-advisor effective Sept. 18 and has been transferred to Salisbury Middle School as a full-time guidance counselor effective Oct. 4.

Shannon Stokes has been approved as a full-time guidance counselor at Salisbury Middle School and Salisbury High School effective Oct. 15 pending completion of requirements.

Karl Laub has been transferred from SHS to SMS as a full-time evening custodian effective Sept. 24.

Melissa Smolick's hours have been increased from a part-time, four hours a day, one-to-one instructional assistant at HST to a part-time four and a half hours a day learning support instructional assistant.

July Roblyer, cafeteria helper at SHS, has had her hours increased by one hour a day.

SMS teacher Meghan Ott has been granted an FMLA leave for up to 60 days effective Dec. 21.

Kevin O'Connell, of Bethlehem, has been hired, pending completion of requirements, as the music director for the fall play.

Kevin Johnson, of Allentown, has been approved, pending completion of requirements, as the rifle coach for the 2012-2013 school year.

Taylor Cressman, of Bethlehem, has been approved, pending completion of requirements, as the middle school cheerleader winter coach.

Kayla Johnes, of Easton, has been approved as the assistant basketball/ wrestling cheerleader coach.

Patricia O'Connell, of Bethlehem, has been approved, pending completion of requirements, as the volunteer assistant music director for the fall school term.

In other business, St. Luke's Emergency & Transport Services was approved to provide ambulance coverage for selected athletic events for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years at a cost of $50 an hour.

The Salisbury Youth Association wresting team was approved to use the parking lot and gymnasium at SHS 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1, Jan. 6, 20, Feb. 3, 2013 for home wrestling matches.

The Devil's Folly was approved to use the parking lot at SMS 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27, Nov. 2 and 3 for their haunted barn at a charge of $100 per day.

Renew Lehigh Valley was approved to use the cafeteria at SHS 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 5 for a public meeting.

The following school-affiliated organizations were approved for the 2012-2013 school years:

Salisbury Athletic Booster Club, Salisbury Baseball Booster Club, Salisbury Boys Basketball Booster Club, Salisbury Football Booster Club, Salisbury Girls Basketball Booster Club, Harry S Truman PTO, Salisbury Music Association, PAGE (Salisbury Chapter), Salisbury Swim Team Booster Club, Salisbury Twirling Booster Club Salisbury Wrestling Booster Club and Western Salisbury Elementary PTA.

The next curriculum meeting is 7 p.m. Oct. 29, operations meeting is 7 p.m. Nov. 7, regular board meeting 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14. All meetings are held in the school district administration building.
