Michael S. Turko, 72, of Emmaus, died October 30, 2012, in the Good Shepherd Special Care Hospital, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Eleanor (Wuench) Turko. They celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary in September. Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Michael S. Sr. and Amelia (Yarema) Turko.

He was a graduate of Allentown High School, Class of 1956.

He was an Army veteran having served in the adjunct general's office in Thailand.

A self-employed building contractor, he was the owner of Main Street Properties and served on several building committees of churches in the area.

He enjoyed spending his summers fishing and crabbing at Fenwick Island Del. His other hobbies include canning, hot peppers, gardening, guitar music and cooking.

He is survived by his wife; daughters; Melissa and her husband Jeffry Ames of Pine Valley, N.Y. and Rebecca of Emmaus; son, Michael A. of Emmaus; sister, Barbara Ballato; brother, Robert; grandsons, Amos and Owen.
