Elementary school students invite their families to lunch

It is officially winter and during the winter season it is important to keep healthy and well-fed. The outdoor wildlife sometimes can suffer during snowy months. Natural food supplies for the birds are usually scarce. When the snowfall comes, sparrows and juncos are forced to congregate at feeders as these species typically feed on bare ground. Keep feeders filled with a variety of quality seed, fresh water for drinking and bathing and cover, preferably provided by plants, to keep birds coming back to your backyard. Look for birds like cardinals, chickadees and house finches during the winter months.
