SALISBURY TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Final payment approved for Eastern fire truck

With the final payment approved, Eastern Salisbury Fire Department's new fire truck, a 2003 Spartan ERV Legend Pumper mounted on a Spartan chassis from Campbell Supply, could arrive at any moment.

That was the word from township Commissioner James Seagreaves, an Eastern Salisbury Fire Department volunteer, who said the fire truck was expected to be delivered by the end of June.

Seagreaves said the truck was expected to be delivered no later than June 30.

Commissioners voted 5-0 at the June 27 township meeting to release $263,763 as the final payment for the fire truck. Commissioner Joanne Ackerman made the motion, seconded by board Vice President Robert Martucci Jr.

Township Manager Randy Soriano noted the township received a $100,000 PEMS loan, which has already been applied toward the fire truck's $362,763 price tag.

Soriano and Atty. John W. Ashley, township solicitor, will review the contract for the fire truck.

While the fire company will hold the title for the truck, the township retains a lien on it. If the truck is sold, proceeds are to be returned to the township.
