WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN Curbside branch collection begins April 20

Curbside branch collection for residents of Salisbury Township will begin April 20 and continue through April 24.

The township requires the branches be placed on the curb after 6 p.m. Sunday. Branches should be no larger than five feet long and five inches in diameter and they should be bundled and tied with twine. Residents may put small twigs in an open container without a lid.

The 10th annual Race for Adam is coming up fast. The race begins 10 a.m. May 2 in the Lehigh Parkway. The registration deadline to be guaranteed a T-shirt is April 20.

Students in grades four and eight take the science assessment PSSA. Fourth grade students at Western Salisbury Elementary School will take the test April 27 and 28.

Eighth grade students at Salisbury Middle School will take the science assessment April 28 and 29. Please remember to have your student get a good night's sleep and have a healthy breakfast.

The WSE spring concert will be held 2 p.m. April 20. First and second grade students will perform and parents and guardians are invited to attend.

The WSE PTA is having an ice cream social at their next general meeting. The event will run 6 to 8 p.m. April 21. They will also be accepting nominations for the executive board.

The PTA is sponsoring a book fair at Barnes and Noble in the Promenade Shoppes. This will run 6 to 8 p m. April 24. Students can participate in a scavenger hunt, register for a chance to win a brownie party for their class, find out the winner of a "name the drink" contest and check out student artwork on display. Teachers will read during storytime 6 to 7 p.m.

Senior prom tickets will go on sale in the high school cafeteria April 22. Tickets will be sold to seniors only April 22 through 24. After that, sales will open up to other students who are able to attend.

A curriculum committee meeting will be held at Salisbury Middle School 7 p.m. April 27.

The Devonshire yard waste drop-off will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 18 and 21.
