Thursday, March 15, 2018 by The Press in Focus

“Big Fish” follows traveling salesman Edward Bloom, who is full of life and tall tales, as he and his adult son, Will, who is about to have a child of his own, mend their strained relationship. Can they reconcile who they are with who they want to be?

Show times are at 7 p.m. March 22, 23 and 24, auditorium, Salem Christian School, 8031 Salem Bible Church Road, Macungie.

Joan Reinhard and Yana Reinhard direct the student production, with assistant director Carrie VanNorden, musical director Jane Rivera, and choreographer Alexa Fahs.

The musical is based on author Daniel Wallace’s “Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions” and the screenplay by John August for Tim Burton’s 2003 film “Big Fish.”

With music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, and book by August, the production premiered on Broadway in 2013.

“Be the Hero,” “Two Men in My Life,” “Daffodils,” “Fight the Dragons” and “How It Ends” are among the featured songs.
