of Macungie

Ruth D. Schmidt, 85, of Macungie, died peacefully April 3, 2018, while in the care of Compassus Hospice at the Lehigh Center, Macungie. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Schmidt II, who died May 9, 1998. Born in Alburtis, she was the daughter of the late Fred W. and Viola A. (Reeder) Hoffman.

She worked as a sales clerk for Egypt Star Bakery for 20 years, retiring in 1987.

She was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fullerton.

She was a former member of the Fullerton American Legion, where she was on the Ladies Auxiliary.

She was an amazing cook and enjoyed baking. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, Charles W. III and his wife Kathy, of Bethlehem Township; daughters Charlene L. and her husband David Kline, of Macungie and Linda L., of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sister Arlene Clause, of Harrisburg; grandchildren Michele, Lory, Lisa, Brandi, Ashley, David, Logan and Kyle; great-grandchildren Kayle, Kaden and Jaxson and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a great-grandson Austin.
