HST PTO back-to-school dinner and dance Sept.7

First days of school have come and gone in eastern Salisbury and students are getting in the swing of things. Soon fundraisers will come home and hopefully the weather will cool down. I’m ready for sweaters, football and nights with friends by the fire pit.

Salisbury Middle School will hold its annual back to school open house 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 6. Parents are encouraged to attend to meet teachers and hear about what is planned for their students this year.

The Harry S Truman Elementary School PTO will hold a back-to-school dinner and dance 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 7 in the school cafeteria. This year’s theme is a cookout. Dessert donations are welcomed. If making a dessert, please email either jenandmar2004@msn.com or jennifer.gnall@gmail.com.

Hope to see you there.

The first early dismissal of the school year will be held Sept. 14. Salisbury High School and SMS will dismiss 12:15 p.m. and HST and Western Salisbury Elementary School will dismiss 1 p.m.

The Salisbury Field Hockey team will hold a clothing collection 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 8. The team is collecting unwanted wearable clothing of all sizes, linens, stuffed animals, shoes and accessories, car seats with bases and strollers. All items donated need to be placed in a tightly tied plastic bag and dropped off at the SHS old gym entrance.

The SHS senior class is holding a Little Caesars pizza kit fundraiser now through Sept. 18. Delivery will be Oct. 1. To place an online order, visit pizzakit.com, click on “products,” then “shop” and enter code “353958.”

The Franko Farm yard waste drop-off site will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 8 and 11. Tree branch collection is scheduled to begin the week of Sept. 17.

Here’s to a happy and healthy school year!
