Finally some warm weather!!
Salisbury Middle School students will take the English/Language Arts portion of the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment testing April 15 through 17. Western Salisbury Elementary School students will take the test April 24 through 26. Make sure your students in third through eighth grades get a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast.
The Salisbury Baseball Booster Club will hold a car wash fundraiser noon to 3 p.m. April 14. Come out to Big Woody’s, 1841 S. Fourth St, Allentown and support the cause.
The 20th annual Frank Yelinko Memorial Golf Tournament will be held 7:30 a.m. May 11 at Iron Lakes Country Club, 3625 Shankweiler Road, Allentown. The tournament is limited to 32 foursomes, so register early. For information, contact Don Kelly at email@example.com.
The WSE PTA will host an ice cream social at the next general meeting. The event will be 6 p.m. April 16.
The Salisbury Township School District has two parent workshops scheduled in the next two weeks. The first is titled “Understanding Current Drug Trends, Addiction and the Vaping Epidemic.” Those in attendance will learn the signs, symptoms, and health effects of drug use and the science of addiction. This workshop will be held 6:30 p.m. April 11 at Salisbury High School and facilitated by Lisa Wolff, M.Ed, from the Center for Humanistic Change, Inc. The second workshop is called “Positive Behavioral Support.” This workshop will discuss behavior basics, the consequences of behavior and how behaviors can be managed in the classroom. The facilitator will be Tracey Jacobi, director of special education in the Salisbury Township School District and will be held 9 a.m. April 16 at SHS. Salisbury Township School District schools will be closed for spring break April 18 through 22.
Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church will host a spring-themed community breakfast 8 to 11 a.m. April 13. Along with their regular menu, special items include bacon, cheese and broccoli frittatas, orange ricotta pancakes and blueberry cream cheese coffee cake. A donation is suggested. All proceeds benefit the food packaging ministry.
The Devonshire Drop-off will be open April 16 and 20. Hours of operation for Salisbury residents are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday and Saturday of the month. Evening hours will begin in May.
