Volunteers needed for the HST Ice Cream Festival June 1

With Memorial Day 2019 in the books, that means we are officially in the home stretch of the school year. Everything seems to be winding down, but in some sense, things are starting to get a little more crazy.

On May 30, students in the gifted program will present in the Harry S Truman Elementary School gym. Look for information to be coming home with your student if they are in the gifted program.

June 1 is the annual HST PTO Ice Cream Festival noon to 4 p.m. This event is rain or shine. Volunteers are still needed as well. If interested, contact a PTO board member. Advance tickets are available for sale; look for information to be sent home with your students.

The Salisbury cross country team will hold a car wash noon to 4 p.m. June 1 at Big Woody’s, 1841 S. 4th St., Allentown.

The last HST PTO meeting for the school year will be held 7 p.m. June 3. Child care is provided by the Salisbury High School Key Club.

There will be an operations committee meeting 7 p.m. June 3 at the school administration building.

The SHS Class of 2019 will hold its graduation June 4 at Allentown Symphony Hall, beginning 6 p.m. Admission is by ticket only. Best wishes to all the graduating seniors.

HST will hold its annual talent show June 4 and 5, beginning 1:30 p.m. This event is open to parents, who are encouraged to come and watch the many talented students give their various performances.

SHS will offer fall athletic physicals June 5. Any student entering grades six through 12 who intends to play a fall sport, serve as a team manager or be in band or twirling needs an athletic physical before practice begins. Please note these are not for Salisbury Youth Association, but to play sports at Salisbury Middle School or SHS.

The last HST T-shirt day for the school year will be June 6. Wear your Falcon leadership shirt one last time for school.

HST will hold its annual Picnic Day June 7. This event takes place during school hours and is for students only. Classrooms will have various stations to visit throughout the day. Look for information to be sent home with your student regarding items teachers are requesting be sent in.

The HST Walk-a-thon will be held June 10, with a rain date June 11. This annual event helps to fund the playgrounds and flower gardens around HST. Look for information to be sent home and all contributions must be turned in on or before June 13.

HST will hold a move up day June 10. This is a chance for students to meet the teachers in the grade they will move to in the fall. This is always an exciting day.

All Salisbury Township schools will be in session June 12. HST will hold its end of year awards on this day. Parents are encouraged to attend as students sing songs and receive awards. On this date, SMS and SHS will dismiss 12:15 p.m. while HST and WSE will dismiss 1 p.m.

The last day for students for the school year will be June 13. SHS and SMS will dismiss 10:30 a.m. and HST and Western Salisbury Elementary School will dismiss 11:15 a.m.

The Franko Farm yard waste drop off site will be open 3-6 p.m. June 3 and 6 and 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. June 8 and 11.
