Silberman, LV ready for CC softball tourney
Salisbury pitcher Emily Silberman is in her second year as a member of Lehigh Valley’s Carpenter Cup softball team, coached by Blake Morgan.
“I don’t think it’s really different than last year, but it’s still nice to be able to meet new girls, and I actually know more of the girls this year,” said Silberman.
The Lehigh Valley team bonded this past Wednesday at an Iron Pigs game.
“We sat together talking about high school softball and high school tournaments,” Silberman said. “I think it will be awesome to play with these girls. It will be fun to spend the week with them playing softball.”
Lehigh Valley’s first games in the double elimination tournament will have been played on Tuesday, past Press deadlines.
“Practice was good,” said Silberman. “We worked on fielding, ground ball drills, and the coaches were hitting to us.”
College coaches will be in attendance at the tournament at FDR Park in Philadelphia, and Silberman would like to continue playing softball at the next level.
The rising senior pitcher has recent experience in big games as Salisbury was this year’s District 11 Class 3A runner-up.
“It was awesome,” said Silberman. “Everything came together toward the end of the season because we started playing for ourselves and each other.”
