Mark your calendars for the PTO back to school dinner Sept. 6

We are officially past the first week of the new school year. Hope everyone had a great first few days. With the beginning of a new school year, comes all kinds of craziness.

Salisbury Middle School will hold its open house 6:45-8:30 p.m. Sept. 5. A detailed schedule has been sent to the email on file with specific times and locations depending on what grade your child is in. The school scheduled it so you can attend more than one if you need to do so. Hope to see you there.

The Harry S Truman Elementary School PTO will sponsor a back to school dinner 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 6. Come out for dinner and dancing and a good night with friends.

SMS will have picture day Sept. 9. Remember to send in your order forms and now you can order and pay online.

HST will hold its open house 7-8:15 p.m. Sept. 12 for all grades. This is a good chance to come and meet your student’s teachers and see their classrooms. Look for more information to be sent home with your child.

The first early dismissal for the district will be Sept. 13. SMS and Salisbury High School will dismiss 12:15 p.m. while HST and Western Salisbury Elementary School will dismiss 1 p.m.

SHS will have its picture day Sept. 17. Look for information to be sent home. The high school open house will be held Sept. 19.

The next school board meeting is scheduled 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18 in the administration building.

The Salisbury Field Hockey team is hosting a clothing drive at SHS 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sept. 14. They will accept usable clothing and accessories as well as housewares. This event is rain or shine.

The Franko Farm yard waste drop-off site will be open for your recycling needs 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 10 and 14.

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown, will hold a free clothing giveaway 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14. There is a large selection of clothing available is for infant, toddler, youth, women and men and plus sizes. Everyone is welcome. Enjoy complimentary food while looking for clothing. Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury will welcome back Sunday school students and teachers 9 a.m. Sept. 8.

Mark your calendars for an ole’ time penny party 6 p.m. Sept. 28 at Jerusalem Church. A bingo night is planned 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at the church. Also planned is a basket social 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at the church. The kitchen will be open to purchase food during these events.
