Salisbury Theatre presents ‘Into the Woods’

Looking for a fun and inexpensive night of entertainment this weekend? Don’t forget about the Salisbury Theatre spring musical “Into the Woods.” The story uses characters from “Cinderella,” “Jack in the Beanstalk,” “Little Red Riding Hood” and other fairy tales to tell the story of a baker and his wife on their journey to start a family. Performances will be 7 p.m. March 12, 13, 14 and 3 p.m. March 15. I’ll see you there!

Both Harry S Truman Elementary School and Western Salisbury Elementary School have early dismissals Monday-Thursday of this week due to parent/teacher conferences and all schools are closed March 13 for teacher professional development.

At 7:30 p.m. March 18 there is a school board meeting at Salisbury Middle School.

Family night at the WSE book fair is 5-6:30 p.m. March 19. If you cannot be there at that time, your student will visit the book fair with their class during the week to purchase books.

Salisbury High School will hold a Spring Fling Dance 7-10 p.m. March 21 in the old gym.

Salisbury Middle School yearbooks are on sale. To order online, visit www.schoolannual.com. Click on “Buy your student’s yearbook” and enter in the school name, city and state. For questions, contact Mrs. Nogueira at LNogueira@Salsburysd.org.

A donation is suggested. All proceeds will benefit the food packaging event March 28. Please note, there will not be a breakfast in April due to the fact the second Saturday in April is Easter weekend and other activities are planned.

After breakfast you can head over to the South Mall because also on March 14, the South Mall will host Family Day (formerly known as Disney Day) noon-5 p.m. Events include: painting class noon (you must register for this ahead of time), meet and greet with Elsa and Belle, kids karaoke, kids dance off, a magic show and dance show. Please log onto the South Mall website for the complete schedule of events. All day there will be bingo, face painting, balloon twisting and sand art. Collect stickers from the vendors for a chance to win some amazing prize baskets.

The Lehigh County Department of General Services will hold a household hazardous waste collection event March 28. This is for residents of Lehigh County only, not businesses. Residents must preregister for this event at www.lehighcounty.org. A list of acceptable and non-acceptable items will be posted on the site. Residents will be given the location of the event after registering along with a confirmation and an appointed time to bring the waste.
