With shortages of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the United States because of the COVID-19 outbreak, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is extending the use of N-95 respirator masks used by caregivers as protection against the virus.

LVHN colleagues are recycling surgical wrap, common blue sanitary sheets that protect operating room instruments before they are used, to make coverings for N-95 masks.

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) and St. Luke’s University Health Network have issued a joint statement about surgical services.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the surgeon general, Jerome Adams MD, and the American College of Surgeons have recommended that hospitals limit elective surgical procedures.

Sales of houses in the Lehigh Valley started off the new year on a down note, declining in the first month.

Closed sales for houses in the Lehigh Valley decreased 4.7 percent in January, with 446 houses sold, compared to 468 houses sold in January 2019, according to the Greater Lehigh Valley Realtors (GLVR) monthly report released Feb. 13.

Sales of houses in the Lehigh Valley closed strong for the end of the year, increasing by double-digit figures in December 2019.

Closed sales for houses in the Lehigh Valley increased 10.2 percent in December, with 626 houses sold, compared to 568 houses sold in December 2018, according to the Greater Lehigh Valley Realtors (GLVR) monthly report released Jan. 14.
