The Central Catholic High School Class of 2013 will be holding their Baccalaureate Mass 7 p.m. June 6 at St. Joseph the Worker Church. Graduation will commence on the following day, 7 p.m. June 7, in Rockne Hall. Admission for both events is by ticket only. The ninth annual Nicholas Caldarelli Memorial 5K was held May 5 in the Lehigh Parkway.
Sponsored by the Central Catholic High School student council, this event was once again a great success. Many CCHS students and alumni, along with members of the Allentown Fire Department participated in the race.
CCHS alum Colin Fitzgerald won the race, followed by current CCHS senior Tyler Fox.
Proceeds from the event will go toward the Nicholas Caldarelli Memorial Fund, which helps to raise awareness for the hazards of driving under the influence.

Nicholas Caldarelli was a Central Catholic graduate tragically killed by a drunk driver in 2003.
In his honor, the Nicholas Caldarelli Memorial Fund serves to raise awareness of the dangers of drunk driving. The fund also awards two scholarships to Central Catholic students, one for an incoming freshman and another for a current senior. There is a race day registration fee.
Central Catholic High School's Best Friends Forever Club will be assisting DeSales University in their Arc Sprout Film Festival 1 p.m. April 20 in Center Valley. The festival celebrates the talents of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by showing films made for and about them.
The 2012-2013 CCHS winter sports award ceremony was held March 14 in Rockne Hall. All varsity letter winners and team MVPs were recognized. This year's MVPs include: Jackie Fronheiser, girls basketball; Maria Holstrom, girls swimming; Nicole Sagl, girls diving; Emily Smith, cheerleading; Fernando Rios, boys swimming; Nick Crouse, boys diving; Mike Rodgers, wrestling and Muhammed-Ali Abdur-Rahkman, boys basketball.
The Central Catholic High School Lacrosse team is looking strong as the 2013 season begins. Coached by Dan Dolphin, the team has many returning senior leaders, including: Tyler Fox, Jeff Guylas, Matt Stuart, Matt Wagner and Colin McDermott. The team has very high goals and expectations and hopes to repeat last year's season, where they defeated rival Emmaus High School in the District XI Championship game.
Central Catholic High School has recently implemented the "eChalk" system for students and teachers.
Central Catholic High School Principal Dennis Nemes, would like to welcome CCHS parents, alumni, friends and supporters to the state of the building presentation 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 in Rockne Hall. This meeting will include a wide range of status reports on the school and student body as well as an introduction of the new Board of General Governance.
The Viking wrestling team began its 2012-2013 wrestling with a strong showing at the 2012 Cattasaqua Dual Tournament Dec. 8.
Led by seniors Alex Laudadio, James Raduj, Connor Brosious, Nick Heberling and Mike Rodgers, and coached by Dave Snyder, the team looks to continue their early success in their upcoming matches against Southern Lehigh and Bethlehem Catholic.
The team has also seen strong leadership from juniors Ryan Carty and Daniel D'Agostini, as well as sophomore Jason Torok, who all have high goals for this year's post-season.
The Central Catholic boys football team defeated Selinsgrove High School Nov. 30 by a margin of 41-13, in the quarterfinal round of the state playoffs.
Led by senior captains Anthony Beck, Andrew Englebert, Colin McDermott and Anthony Lynch, the team hopes to continue their success in the upcoming semifinal game against Archbishop Wood High School. The game will be held 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at Bethlehem School District's stadium.
