William E. Garber, 59, of Zionsville, died August 8, 2012, in Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Ralph and Mary (Frederick) Garber.

A graduate of Drexel University with a degree in chemical engineering, he was employed by Air Products & Chemicals, working 35 years at the Trexlertown office. His assignments were in engineering, operations and information systems. He was a pioneer inside Air Products in the use of supervisory computers for the control and optimization of chemical and industrial gases in manufacturing plants.

Jean B. Acker, 70, of Emmaus, died August 5, 2012, in Lehigh Valley Hospice Unit. She was the wife of David E. Acker. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 9, 2012. Born in Macungie, she ws the daughter of the late T.A. Richard and May L. (Reinhard) Glass.

She worked as an accounts payable clerk, secretary for a CPA firm, secretary for Emmaus Ford, and worked in accounts payable for Penn Foam last working in 2011.

Historic Bethlehem Partnership

Civil War show Sept. 7 to 9

The Civil War Roadshow will be in Bethlehem 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 7, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 8 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 9. The event will take place at the Fowler Center, 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem.

The traveling exhibition is housed in an expandable 53-foot tractor-trailer. There will be re-enactors, a speaker series, children's crafts and games, commemorative merchandise and Civil War era music.

Christopher Vogel, of Alburtis, was arrested for DUI on Weilers Road at Walbert Lane, Lower Macungie Township, 7:21 p.m. Aug. 5. Vogel was traveling north on Walbert Lane and was unable to stop for a posted stop sign. His vehicle traveled through the intersection and struck a PPL pole. Vogel allegedly exhibited signs of intoxication when police arrived.
