Halloween safety tips provided

Chief Allen Stiles has announced he is working with the Salisbury School District to ensure this year's trick or treat event scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 is a fun and safe one.

Stiles said key intersections will be manned by the police department to facilitate crossing of ghosts and other creatures. He asked residents to observe some of the common sense rules for this event, including:

Make sure your child's clothing is flame retardant. Review the stop-drop-roll exercise in case a costume catches on fire.

Public meetings scheduled

Renew Lehigh Valley will hold a series of public meetings to engage the residents of the Lehigh Valley in a regional planning project called Envision Lehigh Valley. The public meetings will garner residents' views and input on the overall quality of life in their neighborhood and the greater Lehigh Valley and engage the residents of the Lehigh Valley in an integral planning process for the future of the community.

The Falcons erupted for four goals in the first half to put away Notre Dame of Green Pond 5-1.

Sean Adams and Connor Wagner each score a pair of goals for Salisbury, while Joe Reilly had a big game with a goal and two assists.

Kevin Barahona added two assists and Austin Uhl also had assist.

Jason Carne, Shaun Holben and William Walsh combined to make seven saves as Salisbury outshot the Crusaders 28-8.

'Super Saturday' teacher seminar

Lehigh Carbon Community College's (LCCC) Teacher Education department hosts the annual "Super Saturday" teacher education seminar, Literacy: Connecting Through All Curriculum Areas, 7:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Nov. 3, main campus, Route 309, Schnecksville. Proceeds benefit the Teacher Education Resource Scholarship Fund.

Training certificates will be awarded. Workshops meet Department of Public Welfare Act 48, Keystone Stars and Continuing Education Units requirements.
