The Da Vinci Science Center has announced that Lin Erickson, who led the organization 1997 - 2005, has begun her second tenure as Executive Director and CEO.
Erickson was elected unanimously by the Da Vinci Science Center's Board of Trustees after a national search of nearly 175 candidates. She began her second tenure March 18.
She has more than 25 years experience spearheading educational initiatives for students from kindergarten through college, raising more than $46 million from public and private sources.
Following three rounds of competition in February and March, the Quakertown Community High School Jazz Ensemble has been named the winner of the 2013 SteelStacks High School Jazz Band Showcase presented by King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul, LLC.
The 24-member band, directed by Frank C. Parker, opens for Preservation Hall Jazz Band, 7:30 p.m. May 9, during RiverJazz presented by Concannon Miller at SteelStacks.
A one-hour TV special on the SteelStacks High School Jazz Band Showcase will be aired 10:30 p.m. April 6 on 69-WFMZ-TV.

Peter Rivera, of Allentown, was named as a scholar athlete at Clarion University. Rivera is a member of the football team.
The Civil War Round Table of Eastern Pennsylvania will be hosting historian and re-enactor Dick Simpson April 2 at Day's Inn, 3400 Airport Road, Allentown.
He will be discussing "Vermont Brigade at Gettysburg."
Dinner will be 6:30 p.m. Program at 7:30 p.m.
Reservations are required for the dinner and must be made by March 28.
There is a fee for both the dinner and program.
Katherine Smolinski, of Emmaus, was named to the dean's list at Villanova University. Smolinski is studying comprehensive science in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Michael Allen 'Mike" Dilcher, 56, of Emmaus, died March 11, 2013, in his home. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Warren J. and Doris M. (Ernst) Dilcher.
For 25 years, he served as bar manager and recording secretary for the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Allentown. Previously, he was an assembler at Mack Trucks Inc. for 10 years.
He was an avid pool player.
