Sixth grade girls go undefeated

The SYA sixth grade girls basketball team recently won championships in the Lehigh Valley Knee Hi Basketball League.

The girls were 6-0 in the regular season and won both games in the playoffs, beating Bethlehem Township Athletic Association (BTAA #1) in the championship game, 34-27. Team members include Peyton Stauffer, Katir Rutt, Rylee Donaldson, Erica Holben, Sydney Harris, Nicole Lentz, Taliah Martinez, Aubrie Yons, Julie Sizer and Vidiha Annum. The team is coached by Michael Stauffer and assistant coach Eric Rutt.

Sixth grade boys take title

The SYA sixth grade boys basketball teams recently won a championship in the Lehigh Valley Knee Hi Basketball League.

The boys went 11-3 in the regular season and won both playoff games, topping the Bethlehem Pates 47-42 in the championship game. Team members include Nathan Caraballo, Bobby Kulp, Trey Fenstermaker, Danny Jennings, Josh Orlena, Tyler Rauch, Justin Burkhardt, Tommy Sylvester, Jonah Nissenbaum, Jack Frankenfield and Sean Snyder. The team is coached by Tommy Burkhardt and Rebecca Caraballo, with assistants Rich Jennings and Bob Kulp.

SYA 3rd-4th graders have perfect year

Salisbury's 3rd-4th grade boys basketball team completed a perfect season this Saturday by winning the Bethlehem Area Basketball League Championship and finishing the season a perfect 10-0.

The boys completed their perfect season with a 25-20 victory over the Bethlehem Canes in the championship game. The Falcon's were led by Ryan Toman 14 points and Chad Parton six points. The team lead the league in scoring averaging 33.4 points a game.

Rhya Ghose, daughter of Kay Ghose Cabot, of Allentown, was named to the dean's list at Franklin & Marshall College. Ghose is a graduate of Emmaus High School.

Margaret Wilson, daughter of Maryellen and James Wilson, of Emmaus, was named to the dean's list at Franklin & Marshall College. Wilson is a graduate of Emmaus High School.

Philip Ehrig, son of Philip and Catherine Ehrig, of Emmaus, was named to the dean's list at Franklin & Marshall College. Ehrig is a graduate of Emmaus High School.

Conference set for April 12

Penn State Extension is sponsoring an Entrepreneurial Communities; Increasing Regional Prosperity through Entrepreneurism, all day conference April 12, at the Fowler Center in South Bethlehem.

Dr. Michael Fortunato, research associate and lecturer at Penn State University, will be the speaker.

His topic is Improving Entrepreneur's Success: What is Working in Communities?

A former entrepreneur himself, having launched Fortunet Entertainment in New York City at age 23, he is now associated with the Center for Economic and Community Development at Penn State.
