Senator Bob Mensch urged constituents who receive unemployment and workers compensation payments via a debit card to check their mail for a new card from JP Morgan Chase. The new card, which was sent this week, will be used to pay benefits beginning March 15, so it is important for cardholders to activate the new card upon receipt, Senator Mensch said.
The YWCA of Bethlehem is seeking donations for its annual Prom Dress Day Event which will be held March 23 at the State Theatre, Easton. The event provides gently-used prom gowns to local high school juniors and seniors to alleviate the financial hardship of prom on girls and their families.
If you paid for medical or dental expenses in 2012, you may be able to get a tax deduction for costs not covered by insurance. The IRS wants you to know these seven facts about claiming the medical and dental expense deduction.
You must itemize. You can only claim medical and dental expenses for costs not covered by insurance if you itemize deductions on your tax return. You cannot claim medical and dental expenses if you take the standard deduction.
Deduction is limited. You can deduct medical and dental expenses that are more than 7.5 percent of your adjusted gross income.

Margaret Lisa Myers, 39, of Macungie, died March 7, 2013, at home. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, she was a daughter of Virginia Ann (Schultz) and Charles A. Myers.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
She was active with the Great Valley Girl Scout Council and worked at Camp Mosey Wood for 20 years.
She worked last as an accounting clerk at LANTA, Allentown.
Timothy J. Jaindl, 46, of Lower Macungie Township, died March 9, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Barbara Anne (Cline) Jaindl. The couple celebrated 20 years of marriage on July 3, 2012. Born in Allentown, he was the son of Dolly (Czekalski) Jaindl of Salisbury Township and the late Herbert Jaindl.
He was a graduate of Salisbury High School, Class of '84 where he was active in sports.
He was a PIAA basketball referee, LMYA basketball coach and former track and field coach at Salisbury High School.
