The Devonshire Road bridge over the Little Lehigh, at Keystone Road, reopens Oct. 19 after being closed to traffic since mid-summer. Contractors performed subsurface reconstruction and repaved the roadway over the bridge. The thoroughfare is a heavy traffic area and drivers have had to find alternate routes since the bridge closed July 16. The bridge was not scheduled to reopen until Nov. 9, but good weather allowed the work to be completed ahead of schedule.

A message to candidates, readers

As we approach the Nov. 6 general election, the Whitehall-Coplay Press, Northampton Press and Catasauqua Press, in the interest of fairness, has halted the publication of columns by local government officials and letters to the editor submitted by those running for office.

The last week for publication of columns by local government officials was Oct. 11.

Letters to the Editor, written by members of the community in support of a candidate, needed to have been received at Lehigh Valley Press no later than 5 p.m. Oct. 19.
