Donate clothing Feb. 4 for Salisbury softball team fundraiser

The Salisbury softball team is holding a one-day clothing drive 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 4. Residents can drop off items in a box or bag at the main entrance of the middle school on that day only. Donations must be there by 2:30 p.m. because everything will be picked up promptly 3 p.m. For a complete list of items which can be donated, visit any of the school websites.

Western Salisbury Elementary invites the parents and guardians of the third graders to have lunch with their student Feb. 7. Third grade lunch begins promptly 12:05 p.m.

I cannot believe Christmas is almost here and 2016 is just about over. What a year it has been. Some good, some bad, some heartwarming and some annoying. What is your favorite memory of 2016?

The last week of school in 2016 brings early dismissals.

On Dec. 23, Salisbury High School and Salisbury Middle School will dismiss 12:15 p.m. and both elementary schools will dismiss 1 p.m.

The kindergarten students from Western Salisbury Elementary School will go on a field trip to the Liberty Bell museum Dec. 21. I wonder if Pip the Mouse will be there?

Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church to host breakfast fundraiser

Salisbury High School’s No Place For Hate is selling lip balm as a fundraiser.

There are five different flavors to choose from: Cherry Berry, Cake Frosting, Mango Peach, French Vanilla and Peppermint. The balms are made from natural beeswax and scented oils. The sale runs through Dec. 23 with opportunities to purchase the tubes before and after school in Room 117 and during lunch.

The sound of music in Salisbury schools

Dec. 1 is the first winter concert of the year.

Salisbury High School will hold its winter choral and instrumental concert 7 p.m.

Western Salisbury Elementary School is inviting the fourth and fifth grade parents to its grade four and five and band/chorus concert 2 p.m. Dec. 7.

The Salibury Middle School winter concert will be held 7 p.m. Dec. 8.

Keystone testing will start Dec. 5 at the high school. These are make-up tests from last spring and not for the entire school. Your student will be notified if they need to take a test.

Second annual community breakfast to be held Nov. 19

The second annual community breakfast at Salisbury High School will be held 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 19. Breakfast is free of charge; however, reservations are required at no later than Nov. 15. Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice.

It is officially that time of year, we are in the second quarter for the school year. Not sure about you, but for me, this one flies by because of all the holidays and days off.

‘Twelfth Night’ opens Nov. 10 to 13 at Salisbury High School

The theater department of Salisbury High School is ready to perform its fall production of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.” Show times are 7 p.m. Nov. 10, 11, 12 and 3 p.m. Nov. 13. If none of those times are good for you, attend the final dress rehearsal 7 p.m. Nov. 9.

The Bruce Uhl basketball camp for Salisbury Township boys in grades four to seven will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 13 in the high school gym. This camp is run by the varsity basketball coaches and players. Pre-registration is encouraged with the form available on both elementary school and middle school websites.

Purse and basket bingo to benefit twirlers

The booster club for Salisbury Twirlers will host the annual purse and basket bingo Nov. 13 at Salisbury Middle School. Doors open noon with bingo starting promptly 1 p.m. Twenty regular games and four specials will be played along with raffles, refreshments and door prizes. Wacky Wildlife Fall Fest Oct. 21

The PTA of Western Salisbury Elementary School is busy, busy.

The Scholastic book fair will run Oct. 18 to 21. Teachers will be taking their students during the day, it will be open during parent visitation for parents to stop in and if that isn’t enough time, it will also be open during the fall fest Oct. 21 so students and parents can shop together.

The Wacky Wildlife Fall Fest will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 21 at WSE. There will be games, food, balloon art, a cake walk and much more.

Salisbury homecoming festivities planned

Let the Homecoming festivities begin.

The weekend starts off 5:30 p.m. Oct. 7 with the second annual homecoming parade. The route begins at Harry S Truman Elementary School and ends at the high school. After that, stick around for the football game against Pen Argyl 7 p.m.

Who is going to be crowned King and Queen this year? Last but not least, the homecoming dance is being held 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 8 in the high school gym.

School picture days scheduled Sept. 13 and 14

The first weeks of school have arrived and they are pretty busy. Get ready to fill out all that back-to-school paperwork.

I’ll start with the good news: All Salisbury Township schools are closed Sept. 2 and 5 to observe Labor Day.

Salisbury Middle School will host the first open house in the district 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 8 followed by picture day Sept. 13.

Next is Western Salisbury Elementary School with open house for grades kindergarten, first and second 7 p.m. Sept. 13 and picture day Sept. 14.
