It’s that time of year – Salisbury School District is starting to ramp up for the 2017-2018 year.
High school students must pick-up their laptops between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Aug. 14 or 16. Pickup will occur in the school library.
Middle school students must pick-up their laptops between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Aug. 17 or 18. Pickup will be in the library.
The Salisbury Township Police Department will hold its National Night Out event 6 to 8 p.m. Aug.1 at Salisbury High School. There will be food and drink, emergency vehicles, games and activities for kids, home safety tips, neighborhood watch information and child safety seat checks and installation. Salisbury Middle School will have library hours 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 26 and Aug. 2.
Salisbury Township will host a trip to Broadway’s Lunt Fontanne Theatre to see “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” in New York City Dec. 2. Registration deadline is July 15. Contact the township for additional information at 610-797-4000.

Summer vacation is in full swing. Luckily, we have things always going on in our area.
This summer, the Salisbury Township School District has summer library hours at the Salisbury Middle School. The library is open 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 28, July 12, July 19, July 26 and Aug. 2. This is a great opportunity for some summer reading.

There will be a school board meeting June 14, in the administration building, beginning 7:30 p.m.
Harry S Truman Elementary School will have field day for students in kindergarten through second grade 1:30 to 3 p.m. May 17. Please dress them appropriately to be outside in the afternoon.
May 19 is HST Leadership Day. Stop by the school 1:30 to 3 p.m. to see all the wonderful ways our students are demonstrating leadership and how they use the seven habits.
May 19 is also the HST and Western Salisbury Elementary School PTO color run fundraiser 5:30 to 8 p.m. The event starts 6:30 p.m.
May has arrived and our schools are getting very busy with end-of-year events.
May 4 is the Harry S Truman Elementary School invitation to lunch for kindergarten students and their families. Look for information for this great experience with your kindergarten students.
May 9 is the Salisbury High School spring choral and instrumental concert. This event will begin 7 p.m. This night will also serve as senior night. The concert is expected to last approximately 90 minutes. There is no admission for this event.
The next school board meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. April 19 at the administration building.
On April 22, Salisbury High School will host the annual twirling, color guard, percussion and dance team competition in the gymnasium. The event will begin 1 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.
The Salisbury baseball booster club will hold a car wash at Big Woody’s noon to 3 p.m. April 23.
A curriculum and technology meeting is scheduled 7 p.m. April 24 at Salisbury Middle School.
April marks the end of the third marking period, as well as the beginning of the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment’s for many of the Salisbury School District students. Please ensure your students get plenty of rest and a decent breakfast on testing days to help them do their best.
The Harry S Truman Elementary School PTO will hold a candy bingo event 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 7 in the school cafeteria. There is no admission fee to play. Come out for a fun evening with your friends. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
Harry S Truman Elementary School will host the annual spring concert featuring kindergarten through second grade students 2 p.m. March 23. The children always do a great job. If you have students in these grades, and are able to make it, it’s always a good time.
March 24 marks the end of the third marking period for Salisbury Middle School and Salisbury High School. Almost there! Keep up the good work!
