Abigail Disney to speak March 14

As Cedar Crest College's William D. Reimert lecture speaker for 2013, documentary filmmaker and philanthropist, Abigail Disney, will be speaking on "Why Women Matter" 7 p.m. March 14 in Samuels Theatre.

Disney, the daughter of Roy E. Disney, will also be receiving an honorary degree from Cedar Crest College before hosting the lecture. Disney spoke to the Lehigh Valley Press preceding the event about topics she will be discussing.

State of the Building

Central Catholic High School held its State of the Building presentation Feb. 3 in Rockne Hall.

Led by Principal Dennis Nemes, the presentation was composed of multiple speakers from the various Central Catholic office departments.

The presentation began with a representative from the Catholic School Development Program, an organization focused on bettering Central Catholic as a whole. The organization's main goals were outlined, including developing the identity of CCHS, growing enrollment and increasing fundraising.

'Power of Women Leadership' series begins

Cedar Crest College is dedicated to empowering women through education. As a part of their "Power of Women Leadership" series, the college is holding five seminars with featured speakers and topics dedicated to women meeting their full potential.

The first of the series, a seminar entitled, "The Power and Influence of Leadership Development," was led by Jo Miller, CEO of Women's Leadership Coaching, Inc.

In the sold out session, Miller spoke to over 80 women who are interested in gaining more leadership qualities in their career field.

Cody Sacks, of Macungie, was named to the fall dean's list. Sacks is a freshman majoring in biochemistry.

Jessica Zelenak, of Macungie, was named to the fall dean's list. Zelenak is a freshman majoring in occupational therapy.

Cristina Calogero, of Allentown, was named to the fall dean's list. Calogero is a junior majoring in biology.

Katelyn Moyer, of Allentown, was named to the fall dean's list. Moyer is a junior majoring in exercise science.

Elizabeth Straccia, of Allentown, was named to the fall dean's list. Straccia is a junior majoring in nursing.
