Jerry McAward will be the 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29, speaker at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center, Slatington.
He will discuss "Laughing and Learning on the Lehigh River."
McAward is an American Canoe Association instructor-trainer-educator and past chairman of ACA's River Kayak Committee.
He has degrees in physical education-exercise physiology and commercial recreation.
The free presentation is open to the public.
At the Nov. 12 curriculum meeting, members of the committee were provided with data about the student population at Salisbury Township School District.
Of the 1,576 students for the 2011-2012 school year, 26.4 percent of those students were economically disadvantaged. Of that number, Harry S Truman Elementary School had the most students, followed by Salisbury High School, Salisbury Middle School and Western Salisbury Elementary School.

Salisbury Township Police Chief Allen W. Stiles won't get his Christmas wish from Salisbury Township Manager Randy Soriano.
Stiles would like a vacancy for a police officer in the township police department to be filled and one new police officer to be hired.
Soriano said adding two, or even one, police officer can only happen if taxes are increased, a prospect he's unwilling to back.
However, Soriano said township Board of Commissioners could vote to raise taxes to provide the revenue for the two police officers.
NASA scientist Jennifer Stern Ph.D., brought the story of the mission of the latest Mars robotic probe, Curiosity, to an enthusiastic audience at Alumnae Hall on the Cedar Crest College campus Nov. 15.
She detailed the development of "Mini-Cooper-sized" craft and its 354 million mile journey from Earth to a small landing site on the red planet. She enthusiastically reported the project is beating all expectations as it searches for signs of "habitability" on the distant planet.

Those are some of the statistics that measure the impact of Superstorm Sandy in Salisbury Township.
The information was contained in Salisbury Township Police Chief Allen W. Stiles' report to the township Board of Commissioners at the Nov. 15 meeting.
"Thank God, no one was injured," Stiles said.
Stiles said the township Emergency Operations Center was set up Oct. 28.
Salisbury High School Model UN team is hosting a vendor open house 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 29 in the cafeteria.
Vendors including, but not limited to Stella and Dot, Pampered Chef, Thirty One, Scentsy, Tastfully Simple, Premier Jewelry, Tupperware and Mary Kay will participate in the event. There will be an opportunity to see demonstrations, purchase items and buy raffle tickets for various items contributed by the vendors and other local businesses and crafts people.
Lehigh Valley Health Network once again administered free seasonal flu vaccinations for adults and children six months and older during two community sessions in November. Shots were all drive-thru at Dorney Park and at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown recently.
