Congressman Charlie Dent, R-15th, was recently honored with a Friend of the Farm Bureau Award for consistently voting in favor of the farming community.
"The award recognizes those members of congress who support policies that help farmers obtain profitability with less regulatory interference and increase demand for U.S. products through new uses and enhanced trade opportunities," Arland Schantz, governmental relations director for the Lehigh County Farm Bureau, explained.

The 2012 Vera Cruz Halloween Parade will start and end at Mystic Chain Park with staging beginning 6 p.m. The parade route is 1.5 miles and runs from Main Road East and West to Vera Cruz Road. The parade dates back to 1923 and promises to be bigger and better than ever with the help of the Emmaus Marching Band. Cash prizes will be awarded to individual marchers, groups and float entries. Lincoln Avenue between S. Cedar Crest Boulevard and Lindberg Avenue will be closed for roadway construction through mid-November. The road closed Oct. 8.
According to the Salisbury Police Department, the contractor will attempt to maintain westbound traffic during the project.
Eastbound traffic will be detoured along Americus Avenue to Lindberg Avenue. Traffic will be open to the Bible Fellowship Church during the project.
The project will cause congestion during high volume traffic times.
