The Saucon Valley Conservancy is seeking artists for the fifth annual Saucon Creek Arts Festival June 1 on the Historic Heller Homestead grounds, 1890-1892 Friedensville Road, Hellertown.

There will be a juried show, based on creativity, originality, technique and presentation, with cash prizes.

POLICE TESTING CONSORTIUM

The Lehigh County Police Testing Consortium and eight area agencies have entered into an agreement to conduct a cooperative testing process for the position of police officer.

The written exam will take place April 6 and the physical agility test will take place April 20.

Participating agencies include: Catasauqua Borough Police, Coplay Borough Police, Coopersburg Borough Police, Emmaus Borough Police, South Whitehall Township Police, Upper Macungie Township Police, Upper Saucon Township Police and Whitehall Township Police.

The Saucon Valley Community Center is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser through March 21 to raise funds for building renovation and programming. The shoe donations may be dropped off at the SVCC, 323 Northampton St., Hellertown, call 610-838-0722 for other locations or for more information, visit http://svcommctr.org/.

The donated shoes will be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs will issue to SVCC a check for the collected shoes.

Rosie Riveter Day

The National Museum of Industrial History will hold its second annual Rosie the Riveter Day March 17 at the NMIH, 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem.

“The Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter” documentary screening will begin 1 p.m. There will be youth activities 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is an admission discount for ages seven to 17 if the child is dressed up as Rosie.

Scholarships offered to students

Moravian College has announced it will award a two-year, full tuition community scholarship to one Northampton Community College student and one Lehigh Carbon Community College student wishing to continue their education in the fall. NCC and LCCC students earning their associate degree in May are eligible to apply for the scholarship(s) available through their respective schools.

The Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services is now accepting nominations for its 2019 Unsung Heroes Program. The awards are given to Lehigh County residents age 60 and over who volunteered outstanding contributions or services that promoted, enhanced and enriched the quality of life for others.

The winners must be available to attend the local Unsung Hero celebration May 15. Nomination forms are available by visiting www.lehighcounty.org/Departments/Human-Services/Aging-and-Adult-Services.

Nominations must be postmarked by March 8.

Scholarship deadline March 1

High school seniors can now apply for a Pennsylvania House of Representatives scholarship to help with the costs of higher education.

The application deadline is March 1.

Each year, two students are awarded four-year scholarships equivalent to the value of one semester of tuition at a college or university in the State System of Higher Education.
