Classes open for registration

The East Penn School District's fall 2013 Community Education classes are open for registration Go to the district website at www.eastpennsd.org, click on the Community tab, then Community Education to register for classes. A PDF of the class listings, including descriptions, is located on the right hand side of the page in a green box labeled Class Descriptions. Brochures can also be found in schools, local libraries, community centers, Emmaus borough hall, etc. The registration deadline is Aug. 26.

Bus trip scheduled

Salisbury Township is running a bus trip to the Broadway Theatre's "Cinderella" in New York City Saturday, Oct. 19. The ticket includes orchestra seating and transportation to and from New York City. Lunch and shopping are on your own. The non-refundable cost is payable by cash, check or money order. You have the option of paying your ticket in full at the time of registration or pay for each ticket in installments.

Leader program set for September

Leadership Lehigh Valley, which identifies and trains emerging leaders from the region, is now accepting applications for the September 2014 program.

The group will explore personal and community issues and broaden participants' knowledge of the greater Lehigh Valley during the monthly sessions.

LLV graduates find placement on a broad spectrum of the region's nonprofit boards, providing strategic direction, financial oversight and philanthropic support in health care, education, social services, environmental and arts organizations.

Concert set for Aug. 22

The Wilhelm Brothers will perform 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown.

This Asheville, N.C. group combines the singer, songwriter talents of Chris Wilhelm with the sonic beauty and skill of cellist Cristof Ensslin.

Their sound emphasizes love of a good story delivered in song and employs folk, roots and indie influences.

No tickets are required and admission is free.

Summer sports camps open to all children

The Swain School is now accepting registrations for its summer sports camps, open to all children in the community. Programs are offered on Swain's 20-acre campus at 1100 S. 24th St., Allentown, in Salisbury Township.

Nine sports camps will be offered, including those for basketball, running, field hockey, dance, soccer and lacrosse. Swain's coaches will staff the camps; grades are for fall 2013.
