The annual Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania will honor four distinguished women leaders at the annual Take the Lead event April 30.

Scholarships offered to students

Moravian College has announced it will award a two-year, full tuition community scholarship to one Northampton Community College student and one Lehigh Carbon Community College student wishing to continue their education in the fall. NCC and LCCC students earning their associate degree in May are eligible to apply for the scholarship(s) available through their respective schools.

The Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services is now accepting nominations for its 2019 Unsung Heroes Program. The awards are given to Lehigh County residents age 60 and over who volunteered outstanding contributions or services that promoted, enhanced and enriched the quality of life for others.

The winners must be available to attend the local Unsung Hero celebration May 15. Nomination forms are available by visiting www.lehighcounty.org/Departments/Human-Services/Aging-and-Adult-Services.

Nominations must be postmarked by March 8.

Scholarship deadline March 1

High school seniors can now apply for a Pennsylvania House of Representatives scholarship to help with the costs of higher education.

The application deadline is March 1.

Each year, two students are awarded four-year scholarships equivalent to the value of one semester of tuition at a college or university in the State System of Higher Education.

Kindergarten registration Feb. 20

UPDATE: Due to the cancellation of school Feb. 20, kindergarten registration has been rescheduled to Feb. 27.

Western Salisbury Elementary School kindergarten registration for the 2019-2020 school year will be held 9:30 a.m. Feb. 20 in the school gym.

There will be a presentation by the principal, meet and greet with the school nurse, CST and reading specialist, guidance counselor, WSE PTA, Lehigh Valley Childcare and a tour of the building.

McNeill, Boscola set date for senior fair

State Rep. Jeanne McNeill, D-133rd, and state Sen. Lisa Boscola, D-18th, have announced their annual spring senior fair will be held 9 a.m. to noon April 26 at Whitehall Mall.

“We are proud to again host our annual senior fair at the Whitehall Mall,” McNeill said. “Last year, we had more than 500 seniors, as well as state and local agencies at our event. The Whitehall Mall offers ample space, plenty of free parking and is accessible by LANTA bus routes 103, 325 and 602, making it a great venue and event for our community and seniors.”
