A. I'm in 12th grade.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is definitely English. I've always loved reading and writing, but this year I also have a really great class. The teacher and the other students are really cool, and since there aren't many of us, we are able to have really meaningful discussions.

A. This year I was named MVP of the varsity...

"You only live once," a friend who smoked and drank to excess since his teens would respond when I'd chide him about his body abuse.

Right. So since we get only one shot at life as we know it, shouldn't we try to make it last?

Today, as this friend lies terminally ill, far beyond medical repair, he has regrets.

But it's too late. His 62-year-old body has given up.

His sad situation reminds me of another friend who died at 50, the victim of lung cancer.

May 2014 nuptials

Mr. and Mrs. Jay Sommer of Schnecksville announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily C., to Paul D. Zellers, the son of the late Kimberly Reis and the grandson of Jackie Reis of Allentown.

Paul surprised everyone by asking for Emily's hand in marriage during Thanksgiving dinner in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Noah Haupt, Adam Boyd, Rebecca Aungst and Lany Laguinilla were named as seventh grade students of the month for December at Salisbury Middle School.

Each student recognized as student of the month was presented the award by their grade level teachers and the school principal. A letter of congratulations was mailed home to the students and the students had their pictures displayed on a special bulletin board in the school hallway.
