Student named a Dana Scholar

Megan Elizabeth Fine, of Allentown, was named a Dana Scholar in recognition of superior academic achievement as well as demonstrated leadership in the campus community at Colgate University, Hampton, N.Y. Fine, a graduate of Emmaus High School, studies religion and Spanish. The Charles A. Dana Scholar Award was established in 1965 by Charles A. Dana, a legislator and businessman from New York State.

The Lehigh County Commissioners had the first reading and discussion of a tax increment financing plan for the proposed Hamilton Crossings shopping center at its May 8 meeting.

The proposed Hamilton Crossings shopping center is located along Krocks Road between Route 222 and Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie Township. The shopping center would include a Target and a Costco.

The currently vacant land brings in about $57,000 in property taxes for the East Penn School District...
