Theodore L. Schantzenbach Sr., 81, of Hereford, died Aug. 7, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. Born in Macungie, he was the son of the late Leon and Carie (Schwartz) Schantzenbach.

He worked for F.M. Weaver Steel Fabricators, was manager at Moyer's Lake and Walp's Guest House, and retired from Lehigh Country Club.

He honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was a life member of Quakertown American Legion Post 0204 and Cannoner's Sportsman Club.

Irvin F. Yerger Jr., 79, of Wes-cosville, died Aug. 9, 2013, in his home. He was the husband of Joan J. (Kneller) Yerger. Born in Frackville, Schuylkill County, he was the son of the late Irvin F. Sr. and Caroline A. (Spears) Yerger.

He was employed as a truck driver for various companies in the Lehigh Valley for many years before retiring.

He was a member of the Orefield congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Walter F. Dryfoos Sr., 72, of Allen-town, died Aug. 11, 2013. Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Llewellyn F. and Mary (Fahringer) Dryfoos. He spent his entire adult life living happily in the Allentown area.

He was a graduate of Ursinus College, Collegeville, with a BA in Economics. He was employed as a sales executive for RJ Reynolds, Allentown until he retired in the mid 1980s. From 1967 to 1969, he served as the first varsity basketball coach at Allentown College, now DeSales University.

Lee G. Derr, 77, of Emmaus, died in her home Aug. 12, 2013. She was the wife of David E. Derr. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lorraine (Hoffman) Derr.

She was a 1954 graduate of Emmaus High School and she worked as a secretary at A.P. Houser.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Pamela and her husband Michael Masser; sisters, twin Gayl, wife of the late Charles Ramer, Kay and her husband Gerald Diehl Sr.; grandchildren, Courtney Pammer and her husband John. She was predeceased by a son, David Ritter.

James C. Black, 88, formerly of Wescosville, died July 24, 2013, in Chatsworth, Calif. He was born in Charleroi.

After graduating from Charleroi High School in 1942, he served in the U.S. Army. He landed at Normandy Beach and was in Germany during World War II.

He retired from Brewers Outlet, Allentown, and moved to California in1992.

He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Kiefer and Zetta; two sons, Glenn and James; two step-daughters, LuAnn Heath and Michelle Gehl; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Anna M. Geist, 93, of Macungie, died July 30, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. She was the wife of the late Earl P. Geist, who died in November. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lizzie (Gehris) Schmoyer.

During World War II, she worked for Jacob's Aircraft and later at General Electric for several years.

She was a member of Huffs Union Church and its Ladies' Aid group.

She was a member of the Macungie Womens Club.

Barbara Ann C. (Meitzler) Landis, 66, of Macungie, died Aug. 2, 2013, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of Donald D. Landis Jr., They were married 49 years in February. Born in Alburtis, she was the daughter of the late John Weller and the late Pearl A. Meitzler.

She was employed as a laborer by Cintas Corporation, working at the Emmaus location for over 20 years, retiring in 2012. Prior to that, she was employed as an assembler by the former Square D Corporation, Emmaus, for over 20 years.

Ralph H. Walbert, 86, formerly of Emmaus, died July 30, 2013, at Bucktail Medical Center, Renovo. He was the husband of the late Thelma L. (Hackenberg) Lindtner. Born in Topton, he was the son of the late Paul B. and Clara M. (Fretz) Walbert.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked at Owens Corning, Emmaus, for several years. He also worked at Howerter's Furniture, Emmaus, after retiring. He enjoyed gardening and cutting grass.

He was a member of the Renovo V.F.W.

Violet M. Schank

Violet M. Schank, 89, of Salisbury Township, died Aug. 2, 2013, in Devonhouse Senior Living, Allentown. Born in Mountainville, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Lena (Banhardt) Schank.

She was a 1942 graduate of Fountain Hilll High School and a 1947 graduate of the former Allentown Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a registered nurse and X-ray technician for 42 years, retiring in 1989.
