Herman F. Wilkins, 78, of Lower Macungie Township, formerly of Hellertown, died July 31, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Elizabeth W. (Wimmer) Wilkins for 54 years. Born in Lumberton, N.C., he was a son of the late James and Mary (Wilkins) Wilkins.
He was a graduate of Lumberton High School and Warren Technical Institute, Washington, N.J.
He served in the U.S. Army during peacetime.
He was employed by ITT Electron Tube Division, Easton, as a technician and a supervisor of production, retiring in December, 1993.
Harold A. Dries Sr., 70, of Emmaus, died July 31, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Rhode) Dries for the past 47 years. Born in Coopersburg, he was the son of the late Henry and Clara (Giest) Dries.
He worked for Keller's Moving Company for many years, retiring in 1981.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Harold A. Jr. and his wife Alison, of Emmaus; two grandchildren, Alexis N. and Cameron J.; brothers; and a sister.

John H. Schaffer, 86, of Macungie, died Aug. 1, 2013. He was the husband of Nancy M. (Morgan) Schaffer. They would have been married for 26 years Aug. 21. Born in Limeport, he was a son of the late John L. and Evelyn L. (Woodhead) Schaffer.
He was a mechanic and past shop steward at Mack Trucks, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and life member of the Egypt VFW.
Lucille R. Held, 90, of Allentown, died Aug. 3, 2013, in her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Norman L. Held Jr. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late William and Beatrice (Romig) Reinhard.
She worked as a telephone operator for the former Bell Telephone for 31 years, retiring in 1985.
She was an active member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Care Team and an office helper for many years.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and volunteered for the former ABVI.
Frank G. Cella, 84, of Macungie, died Aug. 2, 2013, at Lehigh Center. He was the husband of Jane (Buckholtz) Cella.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in September at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus. Date to be announced.
Arrangements are being handled by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
Thomas H. Appleton, 75, died July 28, 2013. He was the husband of Donna M. (Leibenguth) Appleton.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 10 at Lock Ridge Park, Alburtis.

Donald E. Lichtenwalner, 85, of Macungie, died Aug. 4, 2013, in St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty J. (Gehman) Lichtenwalner, with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage. Born in Macungie, he was the son of the late Ellis and Florence (Lichtenwalner) Lichtenwalner.
He was a 1946 graduate of Emmaus High School.
He was a third generation and lifetime potato farmer.
David J. Elek, 55, of Wescos-ville, lost his battle with cancer and died in his home Aug. 2, 2013. He was the husband of Deborah (Krouse) Elek for 27 years. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of John and Yolanda Elek, of Macungie.
He was a 1976 graduate of Emmaus High School.
He will be loved and missed by many.
He is survived by his wife; parents; daughters, Emily and Elizabeth; brother, Douglas.
Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by the Brubaker Funeral Home, Catasauqua.
Dr. Richard W. Miller, 77, of Schnecksville, died Friday, July 26, 2013 in his home. He was the husband of Ellen J. (Moser) Miller. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary May 3, 2013. Born in Fogelsville, he was the son of the late Willard E. and Ruth E. (Lauchnor) Miller.
He was a graduate of Parkland High School, Class of 1954. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education in 1958 from Kutztown University, a master's degree in elementary education in 1960 and a Doctor of Education in 1972, both from Lehigh University.
Steven R. Winkler, 23, of Lower Macungie Township, died July 26, 2013, after receiving injuries from an automobile accident.
He graduated from Emmaus High School in 2008 and received an associate degree in applied science from Lehigh Carbon Community College in 2011.
He is survived by his mother, Ellen, with whom he resided; father, Philip; sister, Jennifer; grandfather, Arnold Abramowitz; cousins, Scott and Robert Paster; and stepsisters, Debbie Delmastro and Cheryl.
