Harold "Tex" Gaal, 84, of Emmaus, died Dec. 6, 2012, in Lehigh Center. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Neubauer) Gaal.
He worked as a maintenance man for Air Products for 33 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Emmaus.
He was a member of Emmaus Lodge #792 F&AM, Valley of Allentown Consistory, Rajah Shrine, Hillbillies, and the Lehigh Shrine Club.
He was a life member of Emmaus Fire Company #1 and #2, Fearless Fire Company, Emmaus VFW, the Mercantile Club of Emmaus, and the former Emmaus Nest of Owls.
Ruth Ann (Urffer) Rivera, 42, of Macungie, died December 7, 2012. She was the wife of Hector M. Rivera Jr. for eight years. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. Jr. and Valeria (Crouthamel) Urffer. She was a homemaker.
She was an avid reader and loved children. She was a member of Chestnut Hill Church, Coopersburg.
She is survived by her husband; stepdaughter, Cheyenne; sister, Judy (James) Calhoun.
Janice M. Scholl, 78, of Emmaus, died December 5, 2012, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of Robert E. Scholl. The couple would have celebrated 56 years of marriage Feb. 16, 2013. Born in Limeport, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Sr. and Jennie (Erney) Schaffer.
She was a member of Chestnut Hill United Church of Christ, Coopersburg.
She was a sewing machine operator, having retired from the Linden Company of Coopersburg in 1997 and previously working for the Emmaus Pajama Factory.
Howard Lee Yeakel, 57, died peacefully at his home in Allentown, December 1, 2012, after a courageous six month battle with cancer. Born in Allentown, he was the youngest child of Chester Franklin Yeakel Sr. and Anne (Godusky) Yeakel.
He grew up in Vera Cruz and graduated from Salisbury High School in 1974, where he was the gold key winner in the National Scholarship Arts Award.
Ruth C. MacHose, 86, of Allentown, formerly of Zionsville, died December 6, 2012, in the Phoebe Home. She was the wife of the late Robert L. MacHose. Born in Fountain Hill, she was the daughter of the late Norman R. and Beulah (Dederick) Fellencer.
A graduate of Allen High School, she was employed at Freeman and Vogt's Jewelers and was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Emmaus.
Gloria M. Bachman, 80, of Emmaus, died December 4, 2012, in Lehigh Valley Hospital Inpatient Hospice. She was the wife of the late Neil D. Bachman Sr. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Simon P. and Cora C. (Longenbach) Danner.
She was employed at BruMar and Levine and later for Chernay Printing, retiring in 1999.
She was a member of Vera Cruz E.C. Church and enjoyed playing bingo.
Earl H. Shankweiler, 96, of Vera Cruz Road South, Emmaus, died December 8, 2012, at Lehigh Center. He was the husband of Althea L. (Weil) Shankweiler. They were married for 72 years June 8. Born in Hensingersville, he was a son of the late Llewellyn and Stella (Bauder) Shankweiler.
He retired after working at Air Products for over 30 years.
He was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd U.C.C., Alburtis, and the Citizens Fire Company of Upper Milford and Upper Milford Western District Fire Company.
Joan (Carnes) Nahrgang, 85, of Schnecksville, died December 3, 2012, at Country Meadows, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Charles A. Nahrgang Jr. Born in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Helen (Haskell) Carnes.
A graduate of Drexel University, Philadelphia, with a Bachelor of Arts in home economics, she was employed as a home economics teacher in the East Penn School District for 10 years, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Trexlertown.
Edward Elias Geosits, 55, died in his home with his family after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was the husband of Jill (Rush) Geosits. They were married for 32 years. Born in Easton, he was a son of Edward S. and Maureen (Shumar) Geosits.
He attended Easton High School, Lafayette College and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where he enjoyed playing basketball, one of his passions. In 1975, he was named the East Penn League Most Valuable Player.
Doris F. Geist, 78, of Emmaus, died November 26, 2012, in her home. She was the wife of Arthur C.G. Geist. Born in Vera Cruz, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Irving Reichard and Lillian G. (Muth) Reichard.
She was a member of St. John's UCC, Emmaus.
