Theft from vehicle
Police were called to the 400 block of Yeker Farm Lane 3:11 a.m. Nov. 17 for the report of a theft from the 2005 Honda Pilot. The passenger side window had been broken and a DVD player was removed with a value of $80.
Security at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest noted an activated car alarm 3:37 a.m. Nov. 11 and found a passenger front window smashed. Further investigation determined a Garmin GPS and power cord were removed from the vehicle.
Rodney Kurtz, of Macungie, was arrested for DUI on Spring Creek Road at Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 11:46 p.m. Oct. 25. Police said they saw Kurtz's vehicle swerve across the double yellow lines four times prompting them to conduct a traffic stop. Kurtz was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol.
Activity by the Salisbury Township Police Department continued to be brisk during the fourth quarter, according to a report released to the township Board of Commissioners.
Dispatched calls, which were in the 500-plus range for the first sixth months, topped 600 in each of the months of July and August.
Incident reports were also up, consistently topping 500.
There were also increases in ambulance and fire calls, and thefts.
Here is a breakdown of statistics by category, based on a report released this month by Salisbury Township Police Chief Allen W. Stiles:
Chief of Police Allen Stiles provided a post Hurricane Sandy report noting the township's response to the storm and the many efforts of township personnel.
"Beginning 7 a.m. Oct. 29, the Salisbury Township Police Department initiated an emergency operation condition and deployed additional patrol units and supervisory personnel. Throughout the day, administrative staff fielded calls from the public with requests for storm related information along with their normal call volume.
The Salisbury Township Police Department was dispatched to the Lehigh Valley Health Network, Cedar Crest facility Oct. 23 in response to a report of a child abduction.
The Salisbury Township Police Department received a complaint from hospital security reporting a small child had been taken from the hospital "against medical advice," and the involved persons were last observed leaving the area in a dark colored GMC Denali.
Attempted child luring
An unknown actor attempted to lure a child by offering ice cream in the 4600 block of Berwyn Drive, Lower Macungie Township, 7 p.m. Oct. 25. The 9-year-old child ran away and the vehicle left the scene in an unknown direction. The vehicle was reported as a black sedan with possible window tint. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 610-395-1438.
Marivi Cadden, 48, was arrested for DUI on Hamilton Boulevard at Village Round, Lower Macungie Township, 1:05 a.m. Oct. 18. Cadden was stopped for multiple traffic violations and was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol.
Addonijah Rossi, 25, of Macungie, was arrested for DUI on Chestnut Street at Cedar Crest Boulevard, Emmaus, 2:53 a.m. Oct. 18. Rossi was stopped for having taillights out and was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol.
A resident in the 1200 block of Voortman Avenue reported 4:20 p.m. Oct. 12 an unknown person went through an unlocked vehicle on the property. Nothing was damaged or removed.
Theft from vehicle
A resident in the 500 block of E. Emmaus Avenue reported 7 a.m. Oct. 12 an unknown person entered an unlocked 2012 Dodge Caravan and removed an Android cell phone valued at $200 and an Olympus digital camera valued at $150.
Anna Rodriguez, 34, of Allentown, was observed allegedly concealing $106 worth of children's clothing at Bon-Ton, 3300 Lehigh St., Allentown, 4:24 p.m. Oct. 5. She was taken to Central Booking and received a summary citation for retail theft.
A resident in the 3100 block of Capital Street reported 9 a.m. Oct. 6 an unknown person went through the unlocked vehicle. Nothing was removed from the vehicle.
