Fire marshal offers safety tips during winter storms

Winter storms can happen almost anywhere. They can cause problems. Know what to do before, during and after a storm. This will help keep you and your family safe from a winter fire.

•Test all smoke alarms. Do this at least once a month. This way you will know they are working. Install carbon monoxide alarms in your home. Test the alarms.

•Plan two ways out of the home in case of an emergency. Clear driveway and front walk of ice and snow. This will provide easy access to your home.

Theft

A wallet was stolen from a patient at Lehigh Valley Health Network - Cedar Crest, 1200 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., in November 2016. The incident was reported to police 11 a.m. Jan. 26.

Jaime Bisbing, 34, of Allentown, was charged with simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment following an alleged physical altercation 7:19 p.m. Jan. 26 in the 1400 block of Paxford Road. Bisbing was taken to Central Booking for processing.

Attempted theft

A resident in the 1100 block of Bell Avenue reported 11:05 p.m. Jan. 11, an unknown person entered a vehicle on the property. Nothing was taken.

A resident in the 300 block of Nicole Circle reported 11:45 a.m. Jan. 15, an unknown person entered two vehicles on the property.

A vehicle was rummaged through while parked in the 900 block of South 24th Street 8:30 p.m. Jan. 19.

Theft

Police were called to DevonHouse Senior Living 7:44 p.m. Jan. 6 for the report of a theft. Police are investigating.

A resident in the 1600 block of 33rd Street reported 7 p.m. Jan. 10 the sale of a pair of shoes on Craigslist for $1,200. Payment went through PayPal. The resident shipped the shoes to the purchaser in Illinois and PayPal informed the resident the account was fraudulent.

A resident in the 1400 block of Harriet Avenue reported 3 p.m. Jan. 6 the inability to access online banking. He later determined his People’s First account had been hacked.

The Salisbury Township Police Department has scheduled “Coffee with a Cop” 9:30 a.m. Jan. 20 at Francesco’s Restaurant, 1701 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown.

Residents are invited and encouraged to attend to meet Chief Allen W. Stiles and Officer Chris Casey.

The informal event is designed for residents to talk about issues, bridge the gap, solve issues and share items of interest with the community.

Public drunkenness

Lawrence Gladys, 63, of Allentown, was issued a citation 10:57 a.m. Dec. 27, 2016, following an alleged incident in the South Mall parking lot, 3300 Lehigh St.

Jason Kondravy, 46, of Bethlehem, was charged with suspicion of driving under the influence following a crash 3:53 p.m. Dec. 26, 2016, in the 1500 block of Graham Street.

A resident in the 1600 block of East Emmaus Avenue reported 11:21 a.m. Dec. 27, 2016, an unknown person went through an unlocked BMW and removed a gift wrapped picture frame valued at $5.

A resident in the 3000 block of Meadowbrook Circle reported 6:31 a.m. Dec. 21, 2016, an unknown person removed a blue LL Bean jacket and a Samsung cellphone from a vehicle on the property.

A resident in the 1100 block of Clearwood Drive reported 9:08 a.m. Dec. 21, 2016, an unknown person removed $1 from a vehicle on the property.
