Salisbury firefighters take annual fire prevention safety message to schools

Firefighters from Eastern and Western Salisbury fire departments were in Salisbury Township schools last week impressing their annual Fire Prevention Week safety message on the community’s young citizens.

In some cases the message is being delivered to the second and third generation of Salisbury youngsters as firefighters take off from work, or other everyday affairs, to make sure elementary school students in the school district hear the basics of home fire safety.

Carly Lennett swims to help others

After getting tired of participating in walks and other fundraising events to raise money and awareness for diabetes, six-year old Carly Lennett asked her dad if she could swim to raise money. After all, she had fearlessly jumped into a pool as a three-year old and immediately loved the water, so it was the perfect fit.

Carly, who battles Type 1 diabetes, has never let the disease slow her down. Instead, she’s fought it head-on, with the help of her dad, Mitch, who also has the disease.
