HST students get in the holiday spirit

Wednesday, December 12, 2012 by EMILY THIEL Special to The Press in School

The holiday spirit is in the air and fueling students of Harry S Truman to participate in Operation Santa Claus, a program set up by Lehigh Valley Children and Youth to help provide gifts to those less fortunate.

This is the second year HST has played a role providing new gifts for children across the Lehigh Valley.

"The response last year was overwhelming," Harry S Truman Principal Barbara Samide said.

Students in all grades have been asked to bring in new, unwrapped gifts to be sent to the program.

Q. What grade are you in?

A. Twelfth grade at Salisbury High School.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite class is AP World History. We learn all about regions of the world, throughout the ages, that we really don't get much exposure to. I believe it is vitally important for everyone to learn as much as they can from the past in order to see the trends that are taking place in modern times. Additionally, I've always loved stories and hearing about past people is something I can really invest myself in.
