A year ago, the Salisbury girls soccer team suffered a loss and tie in its annual season-opening soccer tournament.

But a year later, the results were vastly different under second-year head coach Rick Babyak.

After opening up the tournament on Friday with a 2-1 victory over East Pennsboro, Saturday evening's 2-0 win against Pocono Mountain East at Salisbury High School ended the Lady Falcons' tourney run with a perfect slate.

"It's a good place to be," said Babyak. "...

Connor Wagner scores three goals in team's first two games

Wednesday, September 4, 2013 by TODD KRESS Special to the Press in HS Sports

With two of the top three goal scorers from a year ago no longer with the team, Connor Wagner figured to be a main piece of Salisbury's offensive attack going into the season.

And he wasted little time in putting his stamp not only on the Falcons' annual soccer tournament, but on the season as well.

Following a 5-0 victory over East Pennsboro on Friday, the host Falcons used a late second half surge against Pocono Mountain East on Saturday night in the final game of their...

Wednesday, August 28, 2013 by TODD KRESS Special to the Press in Sports

Jason Mohring, a 2005 graduate of Salisbury High School and former Falcon swimmer, wanted to stay involved in the sport in some shape or form.

It just so happened to work out that Mohring, who held the District 11 breaststroke record for a number of years, would end up back at Salisbury in his first head coaching position.

"I always, I think, want to be involved within the sport somehow," said Mohring. "Whether it be club, high school or collegiate. I thoroughly enjoy the sport...

Wednesday, August 7, 2013 by TODD KRESS Special to the Press in Sports

At first, it was not definite that Salisbury would be able to put two girls teams in the Lehigh Valley Summer Soccer League.

Not only did the Lady Falcons come up with enough players for two squads, but both teams put together solid showings that has head coach Rick Babyak excited for the upcoming high school season.

Composed on of mostly incoming freshman players, CSG Falcon White went 6-1-1 over the season in the early division and had one of the best defensive squads. They...

Wednesday, August 7, 2013 by MIKE HAINES in Sports

By the time August rolls around, most high school baseball players are ready for a break. After long high school and legion seasons, no one would blame them if they wanted a week or two off before starting the school year.

A group of Salisbury players had other ideas. For the third straight season, the Falcons entered a team in the Midnight Madness baseball tournament held at Easton's Hackett Park.

The event benefits Miracle league of Northampton County, Dream Come True and...
