Constitution ousts boys team

Wednesday, July 24, 2013 by TODD KRESS Special to the Press in Sports

During SportsFest's recent A-town Throwdown boys basketball tournament, not many teams could say they advanced out of pool play with a perfect mark.

Salisbury, however, was able to do just that.

The Falcons went 3-0 in their pool, capturing victories over Governor Mifflin (71-47), Burlington Township (43-17), and Easton (54-52) before coming up just short against eventual tourney runner-up Constitution early Sunday morning.

"This was a great tournament for us," said head...

Salisbury Connie Mack team ends season with close loss

Wednesday, July 17, 2013 by TYLER TRUMBAUER Special to the Press in Sports

It is the bottom of the seventh inning in the final game of the Connie Mack season for the Salisbury Falcons. They are facing off against a fierce Stroudsburg club, who is currently leading. With the sun-setting on the diamond the Falcons loaded the bases with no outs.

As the next batter stepped to the plate the umpire made a decision that made the moods of the Salisbury fans darker than the sky above them. He called the game because of darkness.

That left Salisbury with the...

Falcons go 1-2, gain experience

Wednesday, July 17, 2013 by TODD KRESS Special to the Press in Sports

For a Salisbury team that has rarely played together at full strength, the Falcons put forth a solid showing in the Stellar Catch A Rising Star Basketball Showcase last weekend at Cedar Beach.

A long legion baseball season has kept a number of key Falcon players off the basketball court on a regular basis, and that continued for two of the Falcons' three games at the Stellar. The players that took the court didn't let that affect their play.

"We haven't had the baseball guys...

He allowed one run on four hits, struck out two and walked four before leaving with a 2-1 lead with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Fargo-Moorhead improved to 32-22, taking a five game lead over...

Falcons take second, earn spot in regional

Wednesday, July 17, 2013 by CHUCK HIXSON Special to the Press in Sports

Technically, Monday night's Lehigh Valley Legion Championship didn't mean much. We already knew that North Parkland, the league's regular season champion, would be going to regionals and Salisbury would take the number two spot thanks to its appearance in the tournament championship.

But still, no team wants to be beaten by the same opponent four times in a season.

For most of the game, it looked like Salisbury was in good shape. But two runs in the bottom of the seventh doomed...

Falcons beat Bears; ready for tourneys

Wednesday, July 10, 2013 by CJ HEMERLY Special to the Press in Sports

With the two biggest summer tournaments up next, the Salisbury boys basketball team looked to ready itself for the stiff competition that awaits in the Stellar and Sportsfest tournaments beginning this week.

Austin Uhl, Eddie Sanchez, and Bryce Fairclough combined to lead the Falcons to a 42-31 win over Pleasant Valley last Tuesday night at Muhlenberg College.

In a back-and-forth first half, the three Falcons traded baskets to give Salisbury a slim 22-19 lead at halftime.

Falcons earn No. 3 seed in playoffs

Wednesday, July 10, 2013 by TODD KRESS Special to the Press in Sports

One of the goals for manager Scott Heppenheimer and the Salisbury legion baseball team at the beginning of the season was to earn a spot in the playoffs.

With that feat well in hand, the Falcons have their eyes set on a much higher goal a trip to Boyertown to participate in regionals.

That journey will begin on Wednesday when the Falcons host Lower Macungie, a team they beat twice in the regular season, in the first game of the eight-team double-elimination Lehigh Valley Legion...

Reilly leads Salisbury over LVF

Wednesday, July 10, 2013 by TODD KRESS Special to the Press in Sports

When any season gets underway, new players get the opportunity to shine and contribute.

And while the Salisbury boys' soccer season doesn't get underway for a few more months, the same can be said for the Falcons when the fall season approaches. Sean Adams and Kevin Barahona, both Colonial League First-Team All-Stars last season, have graduated, leaving a void in the offensive attack.

One of a number of Falcons looking to help with that production loss is senior-to-be Joseph...

Hamilton Park's 14 and under knee-hi baseball team recently won the Central Whitehall League title.

Twelve teams competed in this year's season-ending tournament. Hamilton Park, with all of its players coming from Salisbury Township, won 16 games and lost just three during the season to earn the National Division's No. 2 seed.
