The Student Horror Film Festival showcases student horror films from schools throughout the Lehigh Valley. Winners take home cash and prizes, trophies and certificates of participation.

Kickstarter web campaign seeks backers for feature

William Cusick is producing his first narrative feature, "Pop Meets the Void," by attempting to raise $35,000 on the funding website Kickstarter.

"We're really hoping to reach $50,000 before the end of the campaign," Cusicks says in a recent telephone interview from New York City where the former Salisbury Township resident lives.

Cusick's Kickstarter campaign has passed the 65 percent mark. The Kickstarter fundraising deadline is Oct. 17. If the goal is not reached, the pledged money is not activated.

Have you heard that a herd of free-roaming elk estimated at 900 inhabits the north central areas of the Keystone State?

Elk numbers have increased to the point that the Pennsylvania Game Commission reestablished a limited hunting season as a population management tool in 2001.

Until this limited hunting season based on a lottery system was reinstated, Pennsylvania's elk herd had been protected since 1932. This column focuses on the story behind the demise and restoration of these magnificent creatures to Penn's Woods.
